Programs for Visiting (Non-U.S.) Scholars

The following programs support the research and teaching of scholars visiting colleges and universities in the United States. These programs offer joint collaborative opportunities with U.S. Scholars.

 

Core Scholar Program
Each year some 800 faculty and professionals from around the world receive Fulbright Scholar grants for advanced research and university lecturing in the United States. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements apply for grants through the Fulbright commission/foundation or public affairs section of the U.S. embassy in their home countries. For deadlines, please contact your country's Fulbright commission or the public affairs section of the U.S. embassy.

Fulbright NEXUS Regional Scholar Program
The Fulbright Regional Network for Applied Research (NEXUS) Program will bring together a network of junior scholars, professionals and mid-career applied researchers from the United States and other Western Hemisphere nations for a series of three seminar meetings and a Fulbright exchange experience.

Occasional Lecturer Fund
The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) provides travel awards through the Occasional Lecturer Fund, which enable Fulbright Visiting Scholars who are currently in the U.S. to accept guest lecturing invitations at colleges and universities. Deadline: None

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Enrichment Programs
The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides a variety of enrichment activities throughout the academic year, which are intended to further the Fulbright Program’s goal of increasing mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and people of other countries. These activities, including enrichment seminars, benefit Fulbright Visiting Scholars who have received Fulbright Scholar grants for advanced research and university lecturing in the United States.
